Fergusson College follows a transparent, merit-based admission process in line with the regulations of Savitribai Phule Pune University. For UG programs such as BA, B.Sc., and B.Voc., admissions are granted based on the marks secured in the Class 12th qualifying examination. No entrance exam is conducted for these programs, but cutoffs vary each year based on course demand and student performance.

For PG programs, admission is offered through a mix of entrance examinations and merit. For instance, M.Sc. and MA candidates (except MA Marathi and M.Sc. Electronics) must appear for an online entrance exam conducted either by the college or SPPU. PhD admissions require a personal interview and are generally guided by UGC norms and SPPU directives.

Admissions for the 2023-24 session started in May, with the deadline for PG applications set for June 15, 2023, while PhD interviews were conducted on May 20, 2023.

The college also offers online admission support, making it easier for outstation applicants to submit forms, upload documents, and monitor selection lists. Admission counselling and helpdesks are available to guide students through the form-filling process and clarify program-specific queries.
