Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

What’s This All About?
Alright, so MBBS isn’t just a bunch of letters you throw around to sound smart. It’s the entry ticket for anyone dreaming of becoming a doctor. We’re talking a heavy-duty mix of brain-melting theory and hands-on training—anatomy, biochem, pharm, patho, you name it. If you can spell “stethoscope,” you’re halfway there (kidding, but not really).
Why bother? It’s the backbone of healthcare. You wanna save lives, fix bones, cure diseases? This is where it all kicks off.
The goal? Churn out doctors who know their stuff and don’t turn into walking malpractice suits. You’ll get snapped up by hospitals, clinics, research labs, or even get to boss people around in public health.
- Who Can Even Apply?
- Schooling: 10+2 or equivalent, with Physics, Chemistry, Bio/Biotech, plus English.
- Marks: At least 50% (reserved categories get the usual break—40%).
- Exam: NEET-UG. Yeah, there’s no way around it.
- Age: Seventeen or older at the time of joining. No child prodigies, sorry.
- How Do You Get In?
- Step 1: NEET-UG sign-up at nta.ac.in (bring snacks, the site loves to lag).
- Step 2: Sit for the exam. It’s usually around May, so cancel your summer plans.
- Step 3: Results drop. If your score doesn’t make you cry, you get into counseling—national or state, take your pick.
- Step 4: Seats get allotted based on your rank and preferences.
- Step 5: Time for paperwork—marksheets, NEET scorecard, ID, the usual jazz.
- Step 6: Cough up the fees and you’re in! Welcome to med school, doc.
- Course Timeline & Setup
- Total Length: 5.5 years (4.5 years slogging through classes + 1 year full-throttle internship).
- Style: Full-time, and yes, you live there.
- Breakdown: 9 semesters, then the internship.
