HBTU Kanpur Reviews
The campus here is pretty chill. I like how the hostels are spacious, but sometimes the water supply isn’t that reliable, which gets annoying. Professors are helpful though, especially during project time. The food in the mess could definitely use some improvement, but overall, it’s a good vibe."
"Placements have been decent so far in our branch. The highest packages are great, but not everyone gets those. The atmosphere in the department is supportive, and the faculty genuinely care about students’ understanding. Wi-Fi speed could be better on campus, that’s one thing I wish was fixed soon."
I love how active the tech clubs are here. We get to work on interesting projects outside the classroom every semester. That said, some of the classrooms are old and lack good ventilation, especially in summer. Hostels are okay but can get overcrowded during peak times."
"The library is great, with lots of books and digital resources. It’s a peaceful place to study. However, sometimes it gets a bit crowded around exams. I’ve had good internship opportunities thanks to the college’s placement cell — they really help you connect with companies."
"Hostel life is pretty fun, with enough sports grounds and a gym for fitness freaks. Mess food can be a hit or miss though, sometimes it’s good, sometimes not so much. I enjoy the cultural fests and tech fest that happen every year; it really spices up life here."
"Faculty here are highly qualified, many from IITs, and they take extra efforts to clear doubts. But sometimes the curriculum feels a bit outdated and not quite industry-ready. Still, the focus on practical learning is a plus, and we get good exposure to labs."
"For girls, the hostels are safe and have good security, which is comforting. The Wi-Fi availability across the campus is still patchy though, making online study sessions a bit frustrating. Campus events are vibrant and there’s always something happening to get involved in."
"Placements are the best part of HBTU, especially if you are in mechanical or chemical branches. The average package is decent, but competition is tough, so you have to work hard. The alumni network helps a lot for internships and getting started."
"The canteen food is good, fairly priced and has decent variety except during exam seasons when it gets crowded. Sports facilities like cricket, basketball, and football grounds are well maintained. The campus feels green and calm, perfect for focused study."
"Some professors have a strict marking style, so you can’t slack off. That keeps us on toes but sometimes feels harsh. The extra classes and mock interviews by the placement cell helped me a lot to gain confidence before placements."
"The biggest plus is the technical and cultural clubs. They organize hackathons, debates, art fests, which keep life exciting. The downside is the old infrastructure in parts of the campus, especially lecture halls which need modernization badly."
"Classrooms sometimes lack basic things like projectors or AC, making long lectures quite tiring, but the teaching quality compensates for it. The campus is compact so you can easily bump into friends, that’s a nice vibe."
"I found the academic schedule to be balanced with time for studies and extracurriculars. The semester exams are tough but fair. The library timings could be extended for late-night study enthusiasts like me."
"Hostel Wi-Fi is almost a necessity now and it has improved over the years but still cuts off at times. The safety measures are good, and there’s a help desk for anything urgent which is reassuring."
"I have been part of the Entrepreneur Cell and it’s amazing for budding entrepreneurs. We get mentorship and workshops frequently. Though we wish funding support was a bit better to launch our startups."
"The campus transport from hostels to main academic blocks is helpful but sometimes overcrowded. Mess food overall is good, especially breakfast is quite filling. The library is a quiet haven, and staff there are supportive."
"Placements have a lot of options especially in IT and chemical sectors but some branches still struggle. Internship support is good and many companies offer summer internships to final-year students."
"There’s a good mix of students from diverse backgrounds, which creates a friendly and inclusive environment. Faculty are approachable and open to discussions which helps a lot during tough subjects."
"Tech events like Technika are super fun and attract top companies from across India, making college life more interesting. However, we wish recreational clubs had more funding for newer equipment."
"Sometimes it feels like facilities like hostel rooms and restrooms need renovation but the university is slowly working on it. Sports infrastructure is improving, which is a welcome change."
"The placement cell is quite active and arranges dedicated workshops for resume-building and interviews, which is a big help for freshers."
"Cultural festivals are vibrant and help build a strong peer network. Though academic pressure during semester exams is high, the faculty’s support makes it manageable."
"The environmental clubs and sustainability initiatives are amazing here. We get to participate in community outreach programs which adds meaning beyond academics."
"Lectures are interactive and faculty often use real-world examples, which makes concepts easier to grasp. The downside—sometimes theory classes lack practical demonstrations."
"I enjoy hostel life but daily water outages are a big frustration. Mess timings and menu variety could also be improved to accommodate different tastes."
"The university has amazing sports events every year, encouraging healthy competition. The gyms and fitness centers are well-maintained and motivating."
"Internet connectivity in labs and hostels is still patchy, making research and project work frustrating occasionally."
"The green campus and lush tree cover is refreshing. It’s a peaceful atmosphere with plenty of spots for group studies or solo reflection."
"As a biotech student, I get solid lab exposure and guidance but the department infrastructure can do with modern instruments."
"I appreciate the equal opportunity environment in admissions and scholarships giving deserving students a chance to excel."
"Hostel rooms get a little crowded during peak admissions but the common areas help socialize and relax."
"Faculty mentorship goes beyond academics; professors help with career advice and research collaborations."
"The afternoon breaks and cafeteria timings sometimes clash with long lectures, making it hard to grab timely snacks."
"Participation in intercollegiate fests through the university has boosted my confidence in public speaking and event management."
"Study material is up to date but sometimes more digital resources would help given the tech-heavy curriculum."
"The proximity between East and West campuses makes it easy to access different facilities though sometimes commuting can be a hassle."
"Students have a voice here, and recent feedback on mess quality led to improvements, which is encouraging."
"Sports facilities are excellent, especially football and cricket pitches, and tournaments are frequent and well-organized."
"It’s a good place for networking, with many alumni positioned in reputed companies who come back to mentor students."
"Overall, HBTU is a great place to learn and grow, with minor hiccups in infrastructure or hostel life that management is aware of and working to improve."
